Er... Did I get it right? To make mods for MMX I'll have to buy a $1500 software? Thats kinda... Strange idea... It will remain this way or there will be a special modding software for MMX? Because I (for example) am not going to buy Unity Pro, that's for sure.

That's what they said. You have a one shot 30 day chance to use the trial version of Unity to make a mod. Afterwords you either have to pay for Unity or give up on modding. It seems and odd idea to bother with including a mod tool when very few people will be able to make the most out of it.

New patch
What the heck happened? Items in my inventory are mostly gone. I finally found a way to defeat the ghosts (buying Burning Determination scrolls) and they are gone along with all my health and mana portions and preferred weapons.
The new patch should at least allows us keep our stuff.

It's CLEARLY stated in description that you need Unity PRO to use the toolkit. Free version will not be able to process features required to use modkit. I'll try it somewhere around sunday, but I'm almost sure it won't work.

That was exactly my impression. I'm trying to launch the modkit right now via free version. But it loads kinda sloooooow. It will be a good news if it will actually open, allow to do something and then save. But then why would developers scare us with that Unity Pro requirement?

Still no changement with the weapons breaking system.
Useless patch. I won't even try it.

If developpers still don't understand that this system is boring like hell because a u-turn to town is utterly long and a complete no-sense, the game will be a disaster.

Read notes and found explanation (a little abridged):
The Modding Kit itself won´t fully run with the Unity free. main reason is that core feature which is used for the export of 3D environment a Unity premium feature only which is used for the export of 3D. We are sorry for this, but at the moment we have no workaround available which, would replace the need for this premium feature. Because of this Unity free is not officially supported by this ModKit.

In comparison to the first official patch this one pales.
No new classes, a modding kit that costs 50times the amount of money of the game, no revamp of the magic system...
I am a bit disappointed to be honest.

Hope that all follows (soon).

To not to talk only about modkit, I´d like to make suggestions:
1.) How about making savegames less engine dependent? Crashing savegames every update may be OK in early access, but certainly is NOT OK once you release the game....
2.)I can´t shake off feeling, that game space is too compressed. Once you leave town, dungeons are literally behind corner. It´s not really a bad as such, but there is almost no space to place any player created mod. Also it creates feeling that world is too small.

The developers focused on the modding kit with this patch and it is a complete disaster. Even though this patch improved the overall gameplay, it fell short in terms of new content. There is one liquid barrel in Sorpigal. The "Hour of Power" buff statue in Sorpigal makes no sense. Who needs an "Hour of Power" in Sorpigal. The other buff statue in Agyn Peninsula is useless too. And now the shrines do not work (bugged).

They either fixed or created one new quest, which cannot be completed in Act I as far as I can tell. Unless they release more Act 1 content in future patches, such as new classes, enemies, quests, etc., I cannot play through Act 1 again. It is boring now, especially without respawning enemies, surprise attacks, and new or secret areas.

i ve not tried patch yet but list of fixes are decreasing my expectations from the game, most of the fixes are (almost all of them very minor some of them even shouldnt be in fixed bug list) I really dont care "One word is wrong in the Credits." fixed or not. there is gamekiller break/fix/ mechanic still needs attention, someone just showed up and responded to this and just explained mechanic again, i dont think developers understands community, people know how break works but it needs to change

Completely agree. I cannot believe they released this so-called "Second Official Patch." Not only is the MOD System a joke with $1500 software required (after 30 days), but they have created a whole new set of bugs. All but one rune statue does not work, engaging in combat with an elite ghost completely freezes the game (no ctrl-alt-R here), the enemies move even slower now that they have longer routines, etc. Wow! I hope the Third Official is coming soon.

It's a shame! This game has the potential to be a great M&M game even with the grid based combat and movement. The graphics and sound are very good, the gameplay is average at best right now. Not enough content, not enough enemies and the combat and movement mechanics are dreadfully slow and static. However, the gameplay is my biggest concern right now. Even with the slow combat and movement, Act I can be completely cleared in 5-6 hours. Let us at least enter the Cursed Ruins!

November 15, 2013 16:20:58
They should have included the final 4 playable classes in the second patch. Hopefully, they are in the Third Patch along with more content. I do like their changes to the balancing in terms of leveling, skill and attribute points, etc. Also, I liked that they increased the cost of items and made more items available. Finally, the new sounds (party and enemy barks, music in the Chapel and Town Hall) are great! So overall, I give this patch a C- because of the MOD system. $1500, really?

November 16, 2013 11:52:32
I think adding the 4 classes would have motivated some people to start over again and replay with the new patch. You can't motivate people to play the same 5-6 hours again and again if you don't add something substantial.
3
evpkol
November 16, 2013 16:09:21
By substantial you mean exactly what? 4 basicly same classes with same mechanics behind them, same skill sets and even same portraits? Substantial enough? Specially for you i have an inside information those additional classes will be: human archer/orc archer/gnome mage/elven warrior...wow what an unexpected turn in the gameplay, don't you think so?

Did I understand that correctly, that I need to buy another software if I want to use the modding kit? That is very strange, never saw a game, wher you had to pay extra for an editor. To be honest, I think that is a very stupid idea. The community could make great mods, but I do not think that many players are willing to pay for that. A 30days test version is no solution for that.

You know... If the game is not written by a drunken monkey, this problem of mvement speed should be among the easiest things to fix. It should be just a process of moving the camera or monster figure from point A to [point B when all calculations are done, so all what the developers need to change is one or 2 constants (or better - add one trackbar to the options menu).
1
DreamWarden33
November 16, 2013 21:20:00
The combat speed is faster with the Second Patch. Also, the animations and barks are improved. The balance is better too. The movement mechanics should be simple to fix as C_RASTRELLY pointed out already. Once that is fixed, the Elite Ghost bug is fixed, the Shrine bug is fixed and more content is available, the Early Access version of the game will be much better. Respawn has to be included at some point too.

I feel his frustration. It is clunky and slow, and waiting for enemies to move while you are rooted in place looking at nothing is just cheesy. Give me Xeen instant square jump movement. I want to jump to the next square now when I press a key and so do the monsters.

Add possibility of turning around during enemy movement. It will give feeling of faster gameplay. Besides it's kinda intuitive thing you would like to do when in combat.

LegacyForTheWin
November 17, 2013 12:32:41
Yes, thats a good idea.
But in addition there MUST be an option "enemies move quickly" which is optional.
So you can chose to either see the nice animations (and they are indeed well done!) or make them move rapidly (e.g. 4-6x the speed AND all enemies at once).
2
DreamWarden33
November 17, 2013 15:44:22
Agreed. The enemy movement is too slow right now. Their movement routines are too slow, especially the ghosts. However, I did notice that they sped up player combat. My party attacks are much faster now, even when casting spells.

Agreed. They definitely improved the game speed and balancing with this patch. My Orc Barbarian and Elf Druid are actually capable of inflicting massive damage now just like their human counterparts. I now can have a Human, Dwarf, Orc and Elf in my party and kick butt as long as I wisely allocate my skill points, i.e. get to Expert in key skills.
1
DreamWarden33
November 17, 2013 15:53:31
The barks are more interesting with a diverse party anyway. There seem to be more barks now then there were before. I think the Orc's barks are the best, but the dwarf's barks are a close second. Good stuff.

"only" $1500 to mod this game!! I'll just go chip a piece off one of the gold bars I keep for just such a moment...In all seriousness, if it costs that much then modders who can afford that should share in game profits. Otherwise, I can't see anyone buying that.

I'm a bit miffed at losing basically ALL my armor and weapons but will replay through it again. I just hope that the mythical "heavy armor' might be sold in stores.
1
DreamWarden33
November 17, 2013 15:49:03
They will have a lot of explaining to do in the forthcoming weeks. I cannot image that they expect modders to pay $1500 for a Unity Pro license. They must have some deal worked out with Unity. Otherwise, they might as well scrap the Mod Kit tomorrow. Either way, it's a disastrous launch of the Mod Kit, even during Early Access.

Its a pity too. They invested a lot of time making all those tutorial videos, and probably spent time getting the mod kit together too. That time would have been better invested in the game itself, considering the limitations on the modding kit.

Have you guys ever heard of differential updates? There are repair softs like quickpar and zidrav working on same principle. So why are guys having us downloads multiple big updates, when you could just UPDATE files instead of overwriting them? And why in any gods name, have titled this SECOND official patch, when in reality it is third, fourth and fifth patch?

About some comments here :

You know peeps, we are beta-tester. It means we are voluntaries, it also means that at most we are customers. Only. It doesn't make us "slave masters", "shareholders", or "master race of the geeky world". Customers. We can speak to devs like we'd speak to our banker, or our meat seller : politely.

And, dear beta testers, imagine how you'd react if YOUR customers would speak to you like you'd be little pieces of crap. I don't think it would be constructive.

Well I was quite a bit upset yesterday. If I´ve offended anyone, they can have my public apology.
But that doesn´t change facts, that devs act like there´s no feedback on some matters like weapons breaking. They say they released two patches, in fact, they´ve released five. And they sure had courage and audacity to go out with editor in state it is - dependent on 3rd party payed package. But it means players and reviewers will have stake ready for them to burn in, if it remains as is.

I agree with EVPKOL here. We have paid to be beta testers, albeit with some perks thrown in by the developers. It's a win-win for them. Not only did we pay for the Early Access version of the game, but we are free labor to the developers. We find their bugs and tell them how to optimize the game. How can they lose? The MOD Kit roll out was a joke! $1500 for third party software?

They have made improvements with every patch. For example, I like the new balancing, barks, combat speed (party side), item selection, etc. Constructive feedback is what we should be providing to them. In the U.S., we have the Bill of Rights and the 1st Amendment, which many people have fought and died over. So we are free to speak our minds.

You know EPVKOL, I don't say we can't criticize. We are here for that, it improves the game. But when peeps think they bought the right to be rude because they pay for the game, I have to disagree.

Some comments "WHEN THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT ASS..." are not constructive and, excuse me, buy a product don't give the customer the right to be a douchebag.

It's not a matter to motivate devs or not tell them when they are doing useless crap, read my words : it's a matter to be adult.

Being adult means being able to face consequences of your actions and taking reponsibilities for words you've spoken. I bought this game for one reason: "Participate in open dev, make your opinion matter". I don't feel my opinion matters. Read the description under "MMX | Early Access Discussion" forum. What is says? Literally: "Join us for exclusive chat with development team." For a whole month i'm registered, i've never actually witnessed this exclusive chat, they mention.

2. Racism?! Are you aware that orcs are a fantasy race and are basically a different SPECIES? If I dislike cats or dogs, am I racist? If I hate martians? If I don't support some modern controversial crap - say, gay marriages? Are all americans racists for hating communists?
3. The concept of class/race linking is stupid. Lack of customization possibilities is bad.

And since an orc appearance MUST be distinct from a human appearance its clear that there will be people that dont like the face. Actually the "nice" body shouldnt be that nice as well. Why should an orc look like a human?

Hi Devs,
first of all THANK YOU for all your effort to release this second official patch!
I think it is also cool that you were listening to the community and released the modding kit way earlier than expected.
If the free unity is not sufficient then this renders the whole modding kit useless.
BUT since you already did a good job I could imagine that you will find a solution for this problem ;)

One question just out of interest: what makes the reboot after installing one patch neccessary?

Yeah, I do not remember when I last saw "restart needed" after game install (not speaking even about game update). Even most OS updates don't need reboot. And three times in a row? Two days passed and I am still surprised.

Love the look and feel of the game so far, but I have issues with the authoring tools so far. If we need to purchase a $1500 product to be able to edit the game after 30 days, why bother with this feature?

I believe that it is not needed to pay for full version of that unity editor, free version works perfect, you just don't get extra support.
Speaking of editing, I just hope I can edit with it respawn rate of wild creatures. (good old farming)

Oh...god almighty...do you even <cross>workout</cross> read? Quote: "The Modding Kit itself will not fully run with the Unity free version. The main reason is that the
core feature which is used for the export of the 3D environment is a Unity premium-only feature.

yeah EVPKOL, you are right, only the Pro edition is for this game. I would never thought that modding would require 1500$.

Would it be possible to make symbols to insert in the map like Etrian Odyssey for the next patch?

To shine change in Sorpigal - previous healing shrine was way better than this new one with mighty hour spell. Why?
1.)Mighty hours last only 1 hour of ingame time, so it all it can be used for is clearing first dungeon (spiders), othertime it is useless as it expires before you meet any other monster outside of town.
2.)Can be used only one time per party rest/sleep.

Starting equipment:
should not be the starting equipment based on skills one chooses on party creation?
When I select Bow skill, I should start with a bow in my inventory. This was changed in latest patch and inventory is pre-set by race/profession only?

I am replaying it again, after last patch.

1. good job on the weapons/armor. Finally, some heavy armor is available.
2. Game seems smoother. good job
3. the prices rose for basically everything in the stores which makes sense the way they are now. good job.

There are 2 small bugs
1. The spiders are dropping antidotes, but they are not showing up in inventory. Good reason now to buy cure poison spell
2. Orlene's Flowers still show after you've done quest

Kenshi moves on map, but his 3D model stays frozen (well, it performs the movements animations..)
So I can see Kenshi on the map to stay just ahead of me. So I can use melee weapons, but in 3D view his model is still 4 squares away. (also when I shoot at him, the arrows fly towards the frozen model, which can be behind a corner)
Also
Magical items (tiara, ring...) have messed up title with real bonus. Title may say "Air aprentice" but it gives +1 to all resist.

I have been trying for about 4 hours to get it started. I have downloaded through uplay. When i click on play it says there is a patch. The patch starts downloading then this comes up
C:\users\user\Appdata\Local\Temp\PROPSYS.dll is not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Next i click ok, it installs the patch then i click on play. Back to square one, there is a patch to download. Am i doing something wrong?

My apologies i think i have figured it out. On this page i was under the impression that there was 1 or 2 patches. https://mightandmagicx-legacy.ubi.com/opendev/blog/patches/installation-guide

However i have discovered there are multiple patches which my computer is going through albeit slowly.

Huge rattling sounds starts to happen after exiting the game. The only way to stop it is to restart comp.
Same thing was happening couple months ago when i tried beta version of the game.Same thing is with this final release.

Am i the only one affected or is anybody else unable to enter The Lost City level 2 from Level 1 after applying the patch? I previously entered it but now the game just seems to hang in the 'interlude' screen forever.
