So how do you like your dungeon to be served, rare, medium or well done? Do you opt for raw battle action, the balanced medium version or nifty riddles to chew on for a long time?

I've been recently discovered that MMX is about to released this year. As a fan of M&M, hope it's not too late to join the creation of old school MMX. (M&M7 is my starting point.) Personally, I like combat-based dungeon. However, in M&M7, the only way to wander in a dangerous dungeon for low level group is being invisible, so it would be also nice if, sometimes, there is an alternative for low level groups to stealthily pass through strong monsters, or fool them by highly intellectual members, to complete a mission. So, for me, it would be good to have balanced option.
P.S.:It's recommended that riddles be solved under some restraints, such as a smart guy or a member with particular skills. Otherwise, the free map would be too easy to explore .(got to be killed by monsters to learn a lesson and become stronger to avenge :D)

I chose C, but why not implement a choice like in the World of Xeen, where you could choose to be an adventurer or a fighter on starting a new game?

This way, the base dungeon would contain a number of great riddles like e.g. the Dungeon of Lost Souls on the Darkside of Xeen, and as many foes as the player would like.

Either way I am really looking forward to this game!

I would love to know more about the dungens that are in the game, before I vote. Like how many combat based, riddle based or balanced dungens will there be? If there where no riddle based dunges in the game. That would make this dungen more unique, if we vote for it. Normaly I would say C, but I vote B.

B!!! There will be PLENTY of combat and combat/riddle content and dungeons in the game, don't worry guys.

I voted B in the hopes to offset that. Give us something Rand Miller would be proud of!

Commenting further on mpgedwmvani's comment, I can say that I have been playing MM since I was 14 in 1988. Having grown up playing them, by the time I played MM7, I did go on to beat the game using 4 Level 1 characters. No big deal, but the fact that you could do it game the game replayability. That is something MISSING in most other games. Cheers MMX!!!!!!!!

i like C, but the riddles / puzzles / finding the secret lever shouldn't be too hard to complete main quest lines. harder puzzles / riddles should be for optional quests or additional treasure.

While a balance is good, the puzzles need to be properly placed. Please don't put a Mensa-challenge puzzle in the main quest line. Something like that can be infuriating and cause players to quit. Save those for bonus treasure/rewards that players can opt to bypass.

I'm pretty sure that option C is going to win since this is exactly what a nicely designed dungeon should be - a nice mixture of combat and puzzle solving. With that said, I chose "B", it'd be great to see a one-of-a-kind, purely puzzle-oriented dungeon, those are actually very rare.

i want to fight much in a dungeon but still have the secrets other MM games had, like you need to push a buttom to open a secret wall in a castle for example, that i would love.

I vote C. But I think there still should be many many mobs in dungeons. Maybe the ratio could be about a hundred mobs(even more) to about 8-12 riddles in one dungeon. In my memory, a 5-storey mage tower dungeon in Dark Side of Xeen should be consistent with that ratio.
I don't worry about dealing with 20-30 mobs one time as MMX is a round-time combat RPG; I can take my time to decide how to do and what to do. Huge number of mobs are challenging, enough riddles are funny; and that's why we need tough warrior and smart mage in our expeditions.
Just my suggestion.

Although I think that "balanced" dungeons are the most fun, riddle dungeons are so rare that I would really love for at least 1 to be in the game. A great riddle dungeon was the Ybmug and Yepok towers from M&M2. If you could solve the riddles you didn't have to fight a single combat (which was great because you could only have wizards and robbers with you).

So even if riddle dungeon doesn't win (it looks like it will lose) PLEASE put at least one riddle dungeon in the game. THANK YOU

Balanced is way to go, even now I still consider dungeons from old Might and magics most balanced puzzles with battles. (Wizardy had great dungeons as well but thats kinda more hardcore than Might and Magic series which selling point is that even casual players can pick it up and learn to play :))

Sorry for my english. I think MM VI was the best in a series. There was a good balance, hard riddle and hard monsters! Therefore, studying dungeons brought pleasure. I think option C the best choice. Also i think MM X must be has to be hardore, as Legend of Grimmrock. Hardcore combat and hardcore riddle, demanding a great patience. Big lack of MM VII and MM VIII there was a "children's" complexity.

Looks like it's going to be balanced, and that's great. Just don't let the game loose it's roleplaying-aspect. It's great if quests and dungeons are linked with a great story.

Would be nice to see one riddle dungeon. Maybe as an early side quest that gains the magic users in the group a nice bonus, so if you have a magic user heavy group they can survive through the early times in the game?

I remember the riddle in the world of xeen. in the pyramids, you had to walk into every corner of the map. when you were done, only then could you see the answer in the map...a big number that was the answer to the riddle :).
please integrate riddles.

I like C, as I played MM 6,7,8,9 I was playing fights in real time and when it becomes hard a started the Turn Based Mode and played step by step to win. No matter which option wins I hope my PC will run this game. I'm sad that the original story is gone, but happy a game like this is going to be released.
