I am a hardcore fan of MM from way back. I can tell already that you guys are on the right path with the new MM. I could sit here and point out stupid little trivial things, but overall you have captured so much of the essence of the series, and so early in development, I will just continue to stand by, watch, and drool. :D

1: Are you going to implement multi level class transformation like in Might and magic 9. It was interesting to make decision during the game. ( Initiate -> Scholar -> Lich; Initiate -> Scholar -> Mage; Initiate -> Healer -> Priest)
2: Posibility to hire characters during the game in M&M8 was very interesting. If I Hired some character by mistake I could change that at any time. Also it was cool just to hire new class character and do promotion quests and see promotion process and changes.

There are plenty of content in old games that could be reused I believe. Why not making this game as the best possible upgrade in therms of skills/schools and classes?

@Vepris In response to your question 2. i think they've said that you cannot kick heroes out of your party, so i don't think we can hire heroes, just hirelings (who doesn't participate in combat if i remember correctly)

Wooooooooo love the chests ! And happy to hear that they will be trapped and we'll be able to disarm them ! i didn't understand how though ...

The game seems really beautiful, with really nice immersive interface !

If there are no social skills, well that's ok, as long as the game keeps a certain complexity, like in old MM ... We trust you on how you'll make it complex and interesting, i'm sure it will be great

It's bad for paper dolls, but i totally understand the time/money restrains ...

About the spells you could actualy do both as it was in MM6-8, you can buy them at guilds or find them in dungeons. As for Shrines, barrels, wells and fountains - I hope they will appear, as their hunt was interesting (like chapel of gods in dragonsands)
Good new about chests - I like the looks, bad new about paperdolls, but alternate idea sound good too, well it is something at least.

I don´t think companion can entirely replace skill - after all there will only two companion slots. And if you have to pay each to hire companion, changing them to gain effect you want them have could get VERY costly. In MM6-8 you had the skill AND could hire companion to boost them.

First of all thx for answering, and actualy useing our feedback. You seem like a great company. I have a question: When you buy two hirelings, and get a quest where you need to take someone with you. What happans then? Do you have to fire one of your hirelings? Can you buy them back easy, or go a long way and find them and rehire them?

I like the chests, but the last one should be black. Finding black chests in mm9 was so much fun... well maybe the only fun thing about that game. ^^ that and getting a lich in your party. :P

It *would* be nice if they had the time/resources available to add in more of the skills from 6-9. Only good things can come from that. It is a major thing. But, again, the time and resources would be huge, because they have to realistically incorporate each and every skill into the core game play. Im glad that they are first focusing on sturdy core game play. Hopefully, time will ultimately allow for more skills to get in. But then again, there is always Might and Magic 11. :D :D :D

Hopefully the chest's loot will get better as the place get harder and harder, no like the other RPG I'd played; open a chest, meh, just another potion.

Wow this look brilliant. But one thing I would like to point out, the paper dolls were used in mm6-8 (1997-2000) and back then technology was bad so not an excuse not to include them but I do hope you add it in DLC.
Once again though.... THANKS for reviving this amazing RPG!!

@rsurdal They already said that you don't need to get rid of a hireling when another npc needs to follow you and the npc just comes with you.

Thanks for answering the questions. I'm personally can't wait for the next blog post and will continue to check daily. The idea of DLC I think would be useful because so many options and directions to go with this game. Also apologies if I ask question that have already been answered. Sometime I get overly excited with the content in the Blog that I miss other details.

I wonder about the items, will there be tons of them, will they be like the Xeen games using prefixes and suffixes added to the main item name.

Maybe i missed a post on it, but i have a question : Will the world of MMX be on a single huge map, or will it be on separated maps like in mm6+ ? I didn't play mm4-5, so i dont know how it was back then ...

Thanks for your kind comments! Some quick answers to your new questions:

When you have 2 Hirelings and there is a quest combined with a new Hireling, you will need to fire one of your exisiting Hirelings. You'll be able to re-hire your original Hireling at the very same spot, where you first hired him. ;)

So Hirelings can be changed pretty easy, however party members cannot.

Yes we'll have lot's of different items, also with pre- and suffixes.

No multilevel Class transformation, sorry!

Thank you for the answers, LE-Larissa! I have another one: what about XP? When a monster is killed and one of the party members is unconscious, does he receive XP also? I hope not. XP should go to the ones that survived the combat. :)

I'm sorry, but this is just way too much bad news. You guys are killing off all the things that gave the old M&M games their depth and variety.

No Alchemy.
No Arcomage.
No Merchant/Disarm Trap/ID Item/Other Miscellaneous Skills (hirelings isn't an excuse).
No Level Trainers.
No inventory management.
No paper dolls.
No increasing skill levels after grandmaster.
Only one promotion line.

Are you guys serious? I would gladly wait longer and have a real M&M game, rather than play a half-assed one.

The feedback from the team is just awesome... never experienced something like that. I already feel bad for any bad critics I gave. I'm glad to see that the grid movement also works on hills :)
Btw. a minor critics - but that may just be me: I have seen that there is a color gradient behind some character portraits. The color gradient is "divided" in the middle to imitate a glass effect (I think). However in my opinion this looks unnatural and "blocky".

It is true that the fact we dont have alchemy is something who bothers me ... As the lack of paper dolls and inventory management ... But let's wait, there are maybe some new features that we dont know yet which will make the game as rich as old MM ...

One question that just popped into my head was "Will there be the option of turn based combat like it MM6?" Because one of the best ways to play MM6 was to adventure in real time, and then when you came across a large group of enemies, press 'Enter' (or the Return key) and go into turn based combat, so you had time to think about what spells you wanted to use against what creatures. Will we still have that? (sorry if this has been asked and answered before ^^; )

First thanks for the very honest and open answers. While I am in general happy with what I see, I am somewhat sceptical about the skill system. The old MM6-9 skill system worked pretty well. While I can understand dumping some skills that were not often gamechanging (such as ID Monster, Item, Repair) and dumping others do to budget restraints (alchemy). I'm not sure why the manner of raising skills has changed or the mechanics of others (disarm, merchant), perhaps you can explain more soon.

I see so many complaints from people who obviously never played M&M before version 6. Some of the complaints make it obvious.

No Arcomage and no paper dolls? Who cares? 1-5 never had those. Only one promotion? Heck, MM6 & MM7 were the only ones that had more than one promotion. MM8 had one per class and 1-5 had no class promotions.

Relax and stop being so hyper critical people. I'm sure constructive criticism is appreciated but they're making a new game in the series, not MM6.5

Thank you very much for answering these questions, this post contained far more pleasant answers than I hoped for ;)
1. This game will be released on steam too --> no uplay? It's as good as bought :D
2. Thanks for clarifying that there will be individual trainers
3. I am pretty curious about the new disarm trap mechanics (won't miss the skill then)
4. Really beautiful chests!
Ofc there are some oldschool things mentioned by narupley which were essential/will be missing but the good news prevail

Chauvetp: Yes, they are making their own game, but you could say that they are making MM5.5, when the team could use much more from newer games (6-8).
Yes, I didn´t play Xeen, nor Corack and Sheltem tale (Sci-fi BTW), mainly because I didn´t have patience with interface. In MM6 it was very intuitive on other way.
In short, they deal with conservative players, which want nearly same experience as they remember. So changes in UI are very unwelcome in their eyes and complaints are to be expected.

@ NARUPLEY

Wow did not realise that we would miss all that, only knew we would miss some skills and the paper dolls
:(. I am sure Ubisoft should have the heart and kindness (doubt it) to give you more funds to put these old school things back. I'm already sad there ain't no paperdolls....

Thanks again for your comments and questions! Some quick answers:

Yes, an unconscious party member does not receive XP.

More info & details on skills + blessings in MMX will be revealed on the blog this week! Stay tuned ;)

In regards to the fight system: MMX is a turn-based game, learn more in our blog posts: What is MMX and/or Tilewarp.
More details on the fighting system will be revealed on the blog in the future, of course!

Sorry but still no answer about character creation. Well, thanks to one of the member, it is now clear that you first choose your race ant then class. But where is gender in the scheme? Or is it the very first choice?

@Rostsit

There is a 'customization' tab in character creation window, in which - I believe - one can choose the gender and the look of a given hero. I know, I know - it doesn't make any sense at all, so I apologize solemnly if it is not indeed the case.

I believe I missed something, but is it correct that not every class can reach grandmaster level in every skill? Like in MM7.

What i liked in Might&Magic and HoMM series is huge creature variety (50+ for certain). Can you tell us approximately how many do you plan in this sequel 10,50,100:)?. And will it include some epic ones from the past sequels like Titans , Minotaurs, Behemoths, Unicorns, Dendroids etc., or creatures from M&M Heroes 6 only?

Behemoths would be awesome. Don't know why they where left out from the Heroes franchise sice Heroes 4. Also Thunderbirds, Phoenix, Dragons, Gargoyles, Gryffins etc. Would be nice in mm10.

@Resudal

I can guarantee there'll be dragons. You simply can't have a fantasy RPG with no dragons.

Hell, maybe we'll be lucky and the Mega Dragon will show up again to make a guest appearance. (Not sure if that would be a good or a bad thing, to tell the truth...)

One BIG question I have (even thought I know no-one will likely answer it) is just what is the significance of Sheltem himself speaking in the trailer.

Honestly, if HE was returning as the villain, that alone would be worth playing the game.

Ohhh so many new comments and questions - great, thanks so much! :)

Please find some feedback in our recent blog posting, inter alia about the creature count, about Sheltem, about Grand Master etc. pp.

Hope you enjoy it! ;)
